As a vital member of the marketing and communications team, this position provides the expertise that conceptualizes, designs, and implements strategic visual communications for the Office of Administration and Planning (A&P) and its business units. Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications, collaborates with marketing and communications team members and business unit contacts, coordinating high profile design projects for print and electronic mediums to connect with desired audiences in the university community; designs visual communications involving graphic, typographic, photographic and motion graphic solutions, including but not limited to: reports, e-newsletters, brochures, manuals, forms, web and social media graphics, and posters; supports implementation of established content management system/website technologies and designs; coordinates design process including production of artwork, submitting final designs for approval, securing of production and cost estimates and keeping projects on schedule; acts as a liaison with University Marketing to strengthen compliance with university visual identity and branding guidelines; explores best design practices for graphic, web design and photography.

Employs project planning and project management processes, including developing long-term marketing plans and strategies, assisting in research and development of marketing and promotional materials, ensuring materials are kept up to date with consistent approach. Establishes and maintains timelines, contracting with vendors, maintaining budget and other planning principles to ensure successful product delivery and that communications are consistent and in line with the business unit, Administration and Planning and university goals and objectives. Works collaboratively with A&P’s Communications and Marketing Coordinator to ensure a team approach. Supports social media and digital media collateral through design and strategic thinking. Works with A&P social media team to proactively create visual content for A&P websites and social media platforms. Stays current on digital media trends, including, but not limited to, social media channels, web design best practices and online advertising techniques, photography and motion graphics.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in visual communications, design, related major, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; proficiency in multiple software packages including Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop; 2-3 years of experience supporting multiple units with strategic design needs; solid understanding of university visual identity/branding guidelines; works independently and with high level of creativity; significant experience in design, printing concepts and content management systems as well as photography.
