Detailed Job Description
As a vital member of the marketing and communications team, this position provides the expertise that conceptualizes, designs and implements strategic visual communications for WOSU Public Media and its departments. Under the direction of the Marketing & Communications Director, coordinates high-profile design projects for print, digital and TV to connect with a central Ohio audience; designs visual communications involving graphic, typographic, motion graphics and photographic solutions, including, but not limited to: reports, e-newsletters, brochures, manuals, forms, web and social media graphics, posters and event collateral; supports implementation of established content management system / website technologies and designs; coordinates design process including production of artwork, submitting final designs for approval, securing of production and costs estimates and keeping projects on schedule; explores best design practices for graphic, web design and photography, with an understanding of radio and TV content development.
Assists all areas of WOSU with a variety of graphic design, editorial and print/web related projects focused primarily on building brand awareness, promoting events, membership and major gift development and program promotion. Projects will support all platforms (TV, radio and digital.)
Position collaborates with Digital Media team for targeted electronic messaging and e-newsletters, designs all web, social media and mobile app graphics, online pledge banners, and paid media collateral.
Implements and maintains brand standards for the organization, and is involved in strategic planning efforts related to marketing, development, membership and digital media, and serves on internal teams.
50% – Assist all departments of WOSU with a variety of graphic design, editorial and print/web related projects focused primarily on building awareness for the organization, promoting events, member and major gift development, and program promotion.
30% – Collaborates with Digital Media team for targeted electronic messaging and e-newsletters, designs all web, social media and mobile app graphics, online pledge banners and paid media collateral.
20% – Involved in short and long-range strategic planning efforts for communications related to marketing, development, membership and program promotion, and manages design student.
Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree, design or visual communications major
Required Experience: Work experience and knowledge of design principles; experience in web design, writing, editing, graphic design and layout skills including experience with InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and other standard graphics software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of professional printing standards and working with professional printers; ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects and priorities; adept at content management and project management programs and systems; at least two years of experience supporting multiple units/departments with strategic design needs; works both independently and collaboratively with colleagues, and with a high level of creativity.
Target Salary: $39,000 – $44,000 per annum
