General: The Office of Administration and Planning (A&P) Marketing and Communications team provides strategic direction for all aspects of internal and external communications and marketing to support A&P and its business units through support in writing, visual communications and strategic communications planning. This group also helps ensure A&P marketing and communication efforts are integrated and aligned with university branding and communications direction.

Position Overview: As a vital member of the Marketing and Communications Office, this position provides the expertise that plans, develops, conceptualizes and implements proactive marketing and communication strategies for the units within Administration and Planning (A&P) and proactively seeks to identify and share positive news in a variety of mediums. Under the direction of the Director for Marketing and Communications, focuses on developing positive news to share within A&P as well as with university community and externally. Proactively researches and identifies stories within A&P business units and writes press releases. Uses videography and/or writing or photography skills to create dynamic content that tells the story of A&P and its business units. Responsible for filming interviews, shooting, editing, uploading and promoting video content across multiple platforms. Drone certification or experience preferred. Must be able to carry video equipment (50 pounds). Helps gather information and prepare responses for media requests and other public inquiries and is capable of serving as a spokesperson or working directly with media. A background maintaining or updating online content and experience managing social media preferred. Serves as alternate for A&P director on crisis communications. Writes, edits, and develops communications plans and materials, including presentations; ensures A&P communications and marketing efforts are integrated and aligned with university branding and communications direction; completes and participates in other initiatives/projects as needed. Oversees and develops communications and marketing plans to support business unit, A&P and university goals. Utilizing a high degree of creativity, and in line with the university mission and goals, writes and develops messaging in support of marketing and communications efforts, including promotional materials, brochures, newsletters, website content, press releases, and mass communications to staff within A&P. Provides internal customers with communications tools and materials that provide a consistent message and presence. Participates in and sometimes leads marketing initiatives and communications planning committees from idea to implementation. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing communications, other related major, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; proficiency in Microsoft Office products; three years of media relations or media experience, including working with spokespersons and proactively pitching stories; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work under harsh deadlines and prioritize duties; highly creative and collaborative; able to support team members as well as interact and communicate with audiences of all levels from front line staff to executive leadership.
