Message To Central Ohio Creatives:

Central Ohio’s creative works are being covered up by an outside force. A villain that is unseen, yet it pulls the strings that define our thoughts. Most refer to this entity as the Algorithm. Despite its effort to bury creativity, CSCA has been working incessantly to spotlight the best creative work in Central Ohio. Now, we need your help.

We are calling on all creatives in the Central Ohio area to submit their work and break the Algorithm.

Submissions Due by September 17th

Entry Details

Creative Best is open to CSCA members and non-members living within 75 miles of Columbus. Students living within the state of Ohio may enter work completed within an accredited arts, design, business, or communication curriculum. Winners will be honored at our annual awards show on November 18th.

Work may be entered through our online submission website or in person on September 17th at the Studio of George C. Anderson. Please review the official Rules document for specific information on entering.

Environmental

Wall graphics, signage, point of sale, interior and exterior design, booths, wayfinding systems, dimensional space design, billboards

Identity

Brand systems, collection of branded touchpoints, identity launch collateral (business cards, letterhead, swag, etc.)

Logo

A single logo and/or word mark on a page. No more, no less

Copywriting

Writing in sales, promotional materials, website content, case studies and white papers. Writing in radio ads. Blog posts and articles

Illustration

Illustration, illustrated typography, hand lettering, or iconography for print, packaging, digital, web, spot editorial and books

Photography (Lifestyle)

Photographs or photographic series of people, objects, scenes, environmental portraits, documentary, landscape, brand images, photo illustration

Photography (Product)

Photographs or photographic series of people, objects, products, portraits, food, interior, architectural, photo illustration

Print (Product)

Printed design work that is for sale. Art posters, apparel design, stationery, pins and patches

Print (Long Form)

Printed pieces 8 or more pages in length. Periodical and book design, self-promotional print, annual reports, catalogs

Print (Short Form)

Printed work under 8 pages. Cards, invitations and announcements, self-promotional prints, menus, brochures, direct mail

Packaging

Graphics and labels, consumer goods packaging, packaging for promotional pieces, other three-dimensional objects

Social Media

Digital content created specifically for social media platforms, including advertising and organic placement. Social media ad campaigns, organic social campaigns, TikTok and Reels videos, tweets

Animation

Moving Illustration: Animated videos, Cartoons, animated commercials, educational videos

Motion

Moving Graphic Design: Motion graphics, kinetic type and iconography, opening sequences, trailers

Video (Long Form)

Video or series of videos each over 30 seconds. Live action. Promotional, television ads, educational, trailers, demo reels. Focus on footage, editing, cinematography

Video (Short Form)

Video or series of videos each under 30 seconds. Live action. Promotional, television ads, educational, trailers, demo reels. Focus on footage, editing, cinematography

Campaign

A set of three or more related pieces from one or more other categories

Didn’t Make It

Reduced Price: Any piece from any category that was going to be great but got killed off by the client, creative director, budget, etc. Comps, storyboards and other partially finished work

The Greater Good

Reduced Price: Any piece unique to this year that was created for the greater good – signage, posters, online statements, PSAs, installations, etc. that was made to inspire change for the better
