Event Information

In an age where the internet can make or break someone, the human behind the designs can sometimes be lost.

Syd Weiler knows this firsthand.

Syd is accidentally internationally infamous because of her purple cartoon birds, Trash Doves—a perfect case of what happens when your work is appropriated and takes a dark turn.

Most people don’t like talking about the hard times, but those moments push us to grow as creators. The last 1.5 years of Syd’s life certainly haven’t been a walk in the park. She’ll be covering topics like keeping creative control over your work, social media as a tool (and a weapon), and life outside of work.

She was an Adobe Creative Resident from 2016–17, published a board game with Mattel, and has illustrated for Time and The Wall Street Journal.

Join us on Thursday, September 20, as Syd gives a talk that’s a bit outside of the box, just like her illustrations.
