Northstar Cafe is seeking a collaborative, digitally-savvy creative to join one of Columbus’ most recognized hospitality groups as a print and digital designer. We are looking for a conceptual and hands-on person who is at ease with words and photography, in addition to being proficient in Adobe’s Creative Suite. This role provides a unique opportunity to build upon a portfolio of our brands’ print, digital and social presence.
This is a temporary contract position that has the potential to become full-time, based on performance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Concept, develop and execute design collateral consistent with strategy and within deadlines
  • Create content to be published on social channels including designing graphics, writing posts and editing footage
  • Identify trends across the industry and local community and proactively implement relevant content into the brand’s channels to stay top of mind
  • Daily support of Instagram and Facebook social media channels
  • Collaborate on monthly content calendars inclusive of brand features, event promotions, seasonal menu changes and other restaurant happenings
  • Develop consistency in tone of voice for all social media content, working with Director of Marketing for approvals
  • Administer social media management tools to track analytics and page growth on a monthly basis; share concise reporting with the broader DoM
  • Attend events across restaurants, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Quarterly menu formatting, copy-editing and proofreading


  • 5 years + of a design background
  • Ability to work in print, digital and create an integrated campaign
  • Social media creative work and campaign
  • Social media management tools (Hootsuite, Plann etc.)
  • Web design (WordPress, Squarespace) + email marketing (MailChimp)
  • Agency experience a plus

The Personality:

  • Curious and engaged individual with a passion for food and hospitality
  • Clear understanding of content strategy a plus
  • Must be able to execute deliverables
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Must have Adobe Creative Suite license and computer
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with the support of the DoM
  • Willing to work collaboratively within a team structure
  • Scrappy; able to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • A creative thinker, willing to share and execute out-of-the box ideas
  • A strong multi-tasker
  • Photography skills a plus
