The Multimedia Designer works with the Marketing and Communications team, and stakeholders across the college, to steward and elevate the brand of the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. This position leverages understanding of college audiences to generate compelling visual and graphic designs that build awareness, inspire choice and foster affinity for the college while aligning with The Ohio State University brand. The role is responsible for maintaining consistent visual identity across channels (email, social media, web, print and publications), and for management of these channels to ensure consistent, high-quality connection with the Glenn College community.

The Multimedia Designer will provide sound recommendations on how visual channels can be used to support strategic objectives by leveraging an audience-centric mindset, design best practices, and a multi-channel approach. While producing graphic and marketing communication materials, the designer manages projects from ideation through implementation by customizing project plans, coordinating resources/suppliers, designing assets and managing timelines based on the unique goals of each project and unit.

The ability to work on simultaneous priorities, while implementing design and brand principles across diverse platforms is a critical component of this role.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in design with visual communications major or degree from an accredited design or art institute with a graphic design major or equivalent combination of education and experience in a graphic design environment
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in a professional graphic design role
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience designing for web and creating webpages (preferred experience in Drupal CMS)
  • Experience designing email communication and working in email communication applications (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Salesforce Marketing Cloud)
  • Basic knowledge of HTML design and experience in Adobe Dreamweaver
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically, while being detail oriented and following a project from ideation through implementation
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to excellence in work
  • Professional demeanor and ability to build collaborative working relationships
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple work streams and deliverables to ensure deadlines are met

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent project management skills
  • Basic knowledge of HTML design and experience in Adobe Dreamweaver
  • Experience in still photography, videography
  • Experience in video editing and working with Adobe Premiere and After Effects
  • Knowledge of professional printing standards and previous experience working with professional printers desired
  • Experience managing social media platforms and visual components
  • Solid writing and proofreading skills
  • Experience in working in higher education
  • Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience on a small, collaborative team with limited resources to achieve team goals
