The Wonder Jam has evolved into a “holding company” of sorts. We call ourselves an ecosystem rather than a holding company because we’re attracted to metaphors using nature or plant-life.

We have two well-developed public-facing sister brands: Basis and Wonderly. Basis is focused on supporting e-commerce businesses through branding and website building. Wonderly supports service providers through the same. Ashli (one of The Wonder Jam’s co-owners) leads Basis and Allie (the majority owner of The Wonder Jam) runs Wonderly.

While these sister brands make it easy for potential clients to understand our specific offerings, we operate as one organization and team behind the scenes. We are a nimble team of seven.

We are unique in that we are majority owned by people who actually do the work and are embedded in the day to day operations/delivery of service. Wonderly and Basis are woman-founded and led.

We are looking for a contract designer to join our team to help Basis. When we think about who would be a good fit for this position, we envision someone who:

  • Possesses a lot of positivity and listens well. They ask questions instead of making assumptions.
  • Feels motivated and inspired when they’re communicating well and often with their team and clients (both asynchronous and synchronous)
  • Has 3-5 years of development experience
  • Thinks about equity and accessibility in their work
  • Very solid understanding of the Shopify development environment
  • Fluent in HTML, CSS, basic skills for jQuery and Liquid

  • Is fairly independent and desires a lot of freedom in their day-to-day work
  • Has interests and passions outside of work
  • Enjoys working on a lot of different projects throughout the day, week, and month
  • Has a great interest in working with clients who are led by solo entrepreneurs or small teams

  • Oversee a variety of development projects through the project lifecycle. These projects might include:
    • Customizing premium themes to match client branding based on designs provided to you
    • Creating custom pages in Shopify that the client can edit
    • Integrating custom functionality that is built on top of a 3rd party platform like ReCharge or ReBuy (back end development experience not required)
    • Prioritizing and executing small tasks for existing client sites
  • Communicating design or UX concerns to our design team as you notice them
  • Attend client strategy meetings with design or project lead

  • Familiarity with Shopify APIs is great but not required

  • This is a contract position, paid $85-90/hour. We are open to hours retained per week or month. There are opportunities for this to become a part-time or full-time salaried position.
