Web and Graphic Designer
In this role, you will produce innovative design solutions for digital, web, and print communications for Ologie’s clients. You’ll create interactive experiences that are complex and visually intriguing, both through hands-on design and in collaboration with our integrated marketing team. You’ll also develop design spec documents and mockups as a primary part of this position.
Our ideal candidate has experience creating designs and marketing campaigns in digital, web, and print channels, and has worked in an agency environment.
- Provide overall creative concepts and design direction, which includes the design framework, grid development, and overall visual language.
- Ensure that all design elements, templates, and finished solutions work within a variety of browser types and screen settings, along with the constraints set by development and design.
- Work with fellow designers, writers, account and project managers, strategists, and developers to ensure that visual design solutions are on brand and technically sound.
- Stay up to date on industry evolutions in print, web, and mobile environments.
Required Hard Skills
- A strong understanding of design, typography, and layout principles.
- A strong understanding of the production process for digital media (image slicing, style guides, color space, file compression, layer comps, smart objects, and the like).
- An expert working knowledge of HTML web technologies and applications.
- Excellent skills in working with CSS and responsive design and prototyping tools.
- Proficiency with a range of software, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, and InDesign.
Required Soft Skills
- Strong communication and listening skills and the ability to translate feedback visually.
- The ability to receive feedback with an open mind, as well as a willingness to adjust designs based on a client’s needs or wants, or on observations from other members of the design team.
- The willingness to defend your work by effectively explaining your reasons and rationale as they relate to the client’s objectives.
- Good organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize work in order to meet deadlines.
- A proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing priorities.
- An interest in digital trends and the capacity to serve as a source for various techniques and examples, as needed.
- A bachelor’s degree or similar in graphic design, art, or another design-related field.
- Two to five years of design and layout experience with digital, web, and print communications.
