For Good Design and Good Practices (No Evil Allowed Here)

Sustainable Design from Boulder to the World

Jonathan Black and Richard Roche are co-owners of the Boulder-based studio Cast Iron Design. Creating brand identity one day and package design the next, adding wayfinding and web design from their vast toolkit, Cast Iron Design brings thoughtful, cheerful, environmentally friendly design from Colorado to the world with hopes of spreading responsible practices to the design community at large. Among their numerous projects can be counted work for Lucky’s Market, the University of Arizona, Seamless Toy Co and Finkel & Garf beer.

Refined eyes will also notice elements that are directly in line with Cast Iron’s mission to bring sustainable design to the fore: an educational notebook about responsible papers, the book Ground|Water The Art, Design and Science of a Dry River. The creative team researches, documents and shares their knowledge of materials and processes to educate others in the design community and their students at the University of Colorado Boulder.

And yes, they do love cast iron skillets.
