CSCA + Climate Designers Midwest Present:

Designing in the Climate Crisis 101 with Eric Benson

Our civilization stands at a tipping point, where we can choose to stay on the same path toward climate disaster or embrace hope, rejecting despair, to reshape our future. This talk will educate creatives about the risks of inaction surrounding climate change and in turn, empower them to take action through regenerative design resources and strategies.

Eric Benson is an Associate Professor of Graphic Design at the University of Illinois. He co-founded Fresh Press, a sustainable paper making lab in 2012 and has been running his 501(c)3 non-profit Re-nourish, which focuses on systems thinking training, since 2006. Eric has published and lectured internationally on the importance of sustainable design and solving the climate crisis. His work has also garnered numerous design awards and has been seen in notable venues like The Walker Art Center, the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, the Hammer Museum, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, and RISD.

Climate Designers Midwest, a chapter of ClimateDesigners.org, are designers and creative professionals from all industries, committed to using our creative skills for climate action. We are building a network in the Midwest and across the globe to learn from each other and to design a better future.
